Park Soo-jeong's Goal Sends Korea Through to Knockouts

In a thrilling match that came down to the wire, South Korea defeated Germany 1-0 to advance to the knockout stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup. Park Soo-jeong scored the game's only goal in the 75th minute, sending the Taegeuk Ladies into the next round for the first time in their history.

The match was a tight affair from the start, with both teams having chances to score. Korea had the better of the play in the first half, but Germany came out stronger in the second. However, it was Korea who would eventually find the breakthrough.

In the 75th minute, Park Soo-jeong received a pass from Ji So-yun and drove into the Germany penalty area. She cut inside and fired a low shot into the bottom corner, giving Korea the lead. Germany pushed for an equalizer in the remaining minutes, but Korea held on for the historic victory.

The win is a major upset, as Germany is ranked second in the world while Korea is ranked 17th. It is also the first time that Korea has defeated Germany in a competitive match.

Korea will now face either France or Brazil in the knockout stage. The match will be played on Monday, June 24th.
